Hi! My name is Jared Zajac. I’m a professional freelance Motion Designer. Okay...but what does that mean? Well, technically, it involves using keyframes, graphs, math and code to create fluid animation. Still confused? Think of me as a graphic designer, with the added responsibility of planning the movement of those graphics based on the principles of animation, studied and practiced throughout years of working in production.

Many people don’t realize that they see motion graphics every day. TV show opening titles. Movie trailers. Their favorite apps. News segment transitions and lower third graphics. TV commercials. Animated billboards. Sporting event jumbotrons and scoreboards. Online videos. Live presentations. Explainer videos. Motion design is everywhere, and the list is only growing.

I love what I do! But this wasn’t my first career choice. As a kid, I desired to be an astronaut. Then, a comic book artist. I technically never explored outer space or drew superheroes (though I have a dresser drawer full of old sketchbooks who would say otherwise), but these two early aspirations can be summarized in two words: EXPLORATION and STORYTELLING. In my opinion, exploration and storytelling are two ESSENTIAL components of motion design. Great motion design doesn’t just move. It tells a story. It pushes the boundaries of the familiar. It might even break some rules.

Fast forward to now. I’ve spent 14 years working at two very different studios, getting invaluable production experience while working with highly professional, magnificent people. I’ve had the pleasure of designing and animating graphics for high-end corporate clients in a variety of proprietary formats. My experience in the field is irreplaceable. It has brought me great joy to be a part of so many successful projects and events throughout the years. I appreciate the adventure and I look back on it fondly. Now, it's time for the next step.

In August of 2021, I embarked on a new challenge with a new title: Freelance Motion Designer. I’m looking forward to the future, excited about forming new connections and contributing my ideas to the world through animation. I'm prepared to work on a per-project basis, remotely from my home office, or onsite at a local studio.
